We're constantly looking for interesting artists on Instagram. We will be introducing them every tuesday in a series called Introtuesday. Please meet Wrocław, Poland based illustrator Paweł Mildner.
What are you working on at the moment? I'm doing a sort of a theater poster. It will consist of illustration and typographic work (which interests me a lot of these days) so I feel only good vibes. I'm also doing the pictures and the layout and the lyrics for a crime-noir picture book which will hopefully hit the bookstores some day.
What is your work process like? Starting from an idea, it takes time - brainstorming slash looking through my sketchbook in search for some clues, then planning the picture design in small sketches. Picking one of them, scanning it and placing colors and lines using the computer. Printing, redrawing, adding details or textures. A lot of back and forth, but I like it. My personal work has significant aims: it serves me as a polygon for new graphic solutions, it's a place where I can let my curiosity go wild. I put no pressure on myself while doing this because there are no deadlines, no external expectations, it's a playground.
Favorite work snack? I am sorry to say this, but no snacks.
Any personal projects on the side that you're excited about? There is another picture book that I am currently working on. I've really got into storytelling science recently and there is this little silly story idea planted in my head. Can't tell anything more!
