We're constantly looking for interesting artists on Instagram. We will be introducing them every tuesday in a series called Introtuesday. Please meet Paris, France based illustrator Antoine Nogueira.
What are you working on at the moment? I am currently working on a series called "Un couché de soleil au Cap-Ferret et autres souvenirs de vacances" which translates to "a Sunset in Cap-Ferret and other memories from childhood summers". It is based on childhood memories but also dreams, thoughts or even colours and feelings I remember from that time. As memories pass, I built up those thoughts from parts I remember and that is precisely what I like about expressing myself through art; you don’t need to relate to anything concrete to be right. And in my opinion you don’t need to be right to do art.
What is your work process like? As many designers and illustrators, I get inspired by my environment and my visual culture that I have built throughout the years.Technically I try to keep relying to handmade work with textures, patterns and lines. In fact, I always start by drawing and painting before I digitalise it all to improve it on my computer by adding colours and compositions. I am a big fan of micro-edition and printing techniques, I am publishing fanzines with the collective I initiated, @collectif.gribouilli, and I am making risograph and silkscreen prints. I am a big fan of low budget art, accessible to all for a low cost price.
Favourite work snack? I am as hungry as my fridge is empty while working. But I think I'd say biscuits and fast food due to my lack of time and cooking skills.
Any personal projects on the side that you're excited about? I just finished a liporello edition which is still at the printer at the moment. I am really excited about this one and I can't wait to finally receive the finished version of it. It's one meter long and 10centimeters high and is going to be riso printed in 2 colours: blue and neon orange.
