We're constantly looking for interesting artists on Instagram. We will be introducing them every tuesday in a series called Introtuesday. Please meet Valencia, Spain based illustrator Sergio Membrillas.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am working on a poster for the upcoming concert of Angel Olsen in Berlin.
What is your work process like?
I usually take my time to think about the briefing and creating the image in my head. Normally out of the studio, taking a walk, buying groceries or having a coffee outside. Then, once the image is created – I like to think about that like in a Michel Gondry movie, where characters in the brain would print a gigantic print on an old school printer – I start drawing. First I go really old school: pencil, eraser and drawing block, and then I digitise it with my wacom tablet. I don't really make a difference between personal and client work; it is all about creating images and trying to create them the best you can.
Favorite work snack?
Coffee and bananas.
Any personal projects on the side that you're excited about?
I am doing a series of prints and merchandise for my friends of human empire about spring and gardening, and working on some prints for the guys of 476.fr in Paris.
