We’re constantly looking for interesting artists on Instagram. We will be introducing them every tuesday in a series called Introtuesday. Please meet Leeds, United Kingdom based illustrator / designer Taaryn Brench.
What are you working on at the moment?
Right now, I’m currently working on rebranding myself and personal projects. I’ve literally just moved cities so things are a bit up in the air at the moment! Also, I don’t have the internet in my new place yet so I’m taking this time to disconnect from my computer and use my sketchbook a bit more.
What is your work process like?
When I do client work, I tend to be a bit more organised. I like to start with some quick fire word associations that usually spark an initial idea. Ideas can strike at anytime so I use the Google Keep app on my phone to note stuff down. I’ll then do some really rough sketches then bring them into Adobe Illustrator and tweak until the client is happy. With personal projects, I’m a lot more relaxed. I have a habit of starting something but coming back to it months later to finish!
Favorite work snack?
Cheese and crackers. If I’m really into working on something, I’m so absorbed in it that I completely forget about eating. But if something’s not quite working or it’s a bit fiddly, I’ll be munching non stop!
What do you do when you find yourself stuck in the creative process?
I try to stop working on the project for a bit and step away from the computer as stressing out over it makes things worse. A conversation with somebody or reading a book usually clears my mind.
